It’s Christmas!!

Do you say those words with excitement and anticipation or do you say it with dread and disappointment?

For me, Christmas is a time of excitement. The lights and decorations illuminate and add beauty to the darkness of winter. Not only to the darkness of winter but to the hard times and pain in our world. This is a time to celebrate the birth of Christ, our Saviour.

There have been some years when circumstances were painful and difficult. But even in those situations, if only for a few moments at a time, I would move my focus to the hope and joy of the season.

When it is dark, and I start turning on the Christmas lights, hope ignites within me…the darkness will fade. When all of the Christmas lights are on, joy fills my being. That might sound weird, but I like pretty lights.

In darkness we can hope for the comfort of God’s light and His presence. When His light shines, the darkness fades. And when the darkness fades, we can also find peace. With His shining light, we can also experience His love.

“For unto us a child is born…And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

It’s Christmas!! Whether you are excited about Christmas or not, when you see the lights and decorations, may you experience hope, peace, joy and love. It’s a beautiful thing.
